Calderón: “No podemos permitir que el PUSC muera”

En medio de copas de vino y comida italiana, el ex presidente Rafael Ángel Calderón (1990-1994) marcó “Il Ritorno” a la política nacional, tras estar alejado por más de un año por supuestos actos de corrupción.

Durante un almuerzo informal en la Casa Italia y con ex diputados, ex directivos de instituciones públicas, algunos legisladores y varios amigos cercanos del Partido Unidad Social Cristiana (PUSC), Calderón Fournier revivió viejos momentos y al mismo tiempo reactivó su vida política.

A pesar de que el ex presidente indicó que no está participando en la campaña electoral, dejó claro que el socialcristianismo “no debe morir” y que no descarta la posibilidad de aspirar a la Presidencia de la República para los comicios de 2010.

“Es muy prematuro, pero no lo descarto”, dijo Calderón Fournier, quien calificó la reunión de ayer como un acto social.

“Se trata de un grupo de amigos que decidieron hacerme un almuerzo, pues teníamos un año de no vernos, ya que no podía salir de la cárcel, ni ellos podían ir allá. La iniciativa fue del señor Luis Manuel Chacón, quien simplemente quiso organizar un encuentro social.

“Desde que me dieron la libertad, he estado recorriendo el país feliz y contento, porque siempre me ha hecho falta estar con el pueblo.

“Conversamos un rato de la realidad nacional, así como de mi situación personal. Francamente, yo me asombré que la prensa le haya dado tanta expectativa a un encuentro que fue netamente amistoso”.

Entre los asistentes a la reunión destacaron los legisladores Federico Vargas, Rodolfo Delgado, Francisco Sanchún y Aída Faingezicht; además de Luis Fishman, Carlos Castro, Hernán Fournier, Ovidio Pacheco, Mario Romero, Luis Manuel Chacón, Emmanuel Ajoy, Gerardo Rudín, Vanesa Castro, Nury Vargas, José María Borbón, Norman Jiménez, Omar Obando, Gerardo Medina, Sergio Salazar y Guillermo Arguedas.
