Restaurants in La Fortuna &
Arenal Volcano Area

Nowadays, La Fortuna town is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the country.  The surrounding area is home to cascading waterfalls, luxurious hot springs and the imposing Arenal Volcano.  The influx of tourists has led to an extraordinary development in the area, with plenty of options for lodging, dining and more.

Dining in La Fortuna & the Arenal area is truly a unique experience.  Most restaurants have spectacular views to the volcano.  The variety and types of restaurants have become increasingly cosmopolitan – travelers can enjoy fine international cuisine, as well as typical Costa Rican foods with equal ease.

In the Arenal Volcano area and La Fortuna, wherever you eat, be it a small café or a sophisticated restaurant, dress is casual.  Note that 23% is added to all menu prices - 13% for tax and 10% for service. Because a gratuity is included, there is no need to tip. However, if you receive an outstanding service, it's nice to add something to the obligatory 10%.

One of the favorite restaurants in town is Qué Rico Aquí Arenal Restaurant.  Located on the way to the Arenal Volcano as part of the Arenal Volcano Inn facilities (6.5 kilometers north of La Fortuna Catholic Church), the restaurant has a great view of the volcano as well as incredible food.  It offers primarily Italian food, with excellent choices of pastas, pizzas and carpaccios, as well as international and typical Costa Rican dishes. Qué Rico Aquí Arenal offers stellar service, with courteous personnel, reasonable waiting times and great prices.
&Restaurant. It serves International and Costa Rican food and is one of the busiest restaurants in town, as both locals and tourists often fill up the place.  Don Rufino is a good choice for breakfast, and the bar stays open most nights until 2am.

La Choza de Laurel is considered to be one of the most famous typical food restaurants in Central America, thanks to the quality of its typical food and its great service.  The restaurant is conveniently located only 250 meters west of La Fortuna Catholic Church.
