Congress unanimously approved creation of a cultural center in Heredia

Heredia will have, at last, a great cultural center to accommodate the different artistic expressions of the providence.

On Tuesday Cultural Newsnight, deputies collectively approved, in the second debate, the project for the law that consists on the creation of a Cultural Center in Heredia. For this they need premises of the old school Republic of Argentina.

It is important to remember that Heredia has the second public university named Omar Dengo; they have lots of cultural careers where sometimes indoor theatres are not enough for the performances.

According to the deputy Fernando Sanchez, principal promoter of this project, said that this Center will be an area for multidisciplinary exhibitions, art workshops, performances and concerts of the musical school.
The bill of law was developed in a good atmosphere in the Legislative Assembly.

This new law was also very good seen by the Commission of Social Affairs, but also was approved unanimously in both debates in the plenary.

The proposed area would be called Popular Cultural Center of Heredia to make presentations and facilitate historical paintings, sculpture, drama, musical performances, lectures, art classes and workshops.

Apart from various spaces in the art school, the university has a little cultural infrastructure. Moreover, the cultural house Alfredo Gonzalez Flores is stifled by the high demand.

This place would be administered by the board, consisting in representatives from the Educational and Cultural ministries, the National University, the Council of Heredia and the artistic community.

Sanchez said that the idea had nine years of being stagnant in the role and now takes over, but with a more ambitious vision, which will benefit various sectors of Heredia.

Now, the Republic of Argentina is only half to restore. Sandra Quirós, the Heritage Center said that between 2002 and 2004 they spent ¢ 80 million for structural reinforcement and part for their compensation.
