GPS system in Costa Rica

Exploring Costa Rica with confidence, knowing exactly where you want to go is now possible thanks to the satellite global positioning system technology.  Automobile travelers can now go through the winding roads of Costa Rica without getting lost. 

A new satellite-guided GPS map geared towards tourist travelers was developed by Smart Ways, a division of Rutas Satelitales G.P.S. S.A officially licensed by Garmin International Inc.  The map has contact points of numerous popular Costa Rica destinations including beaches, resorts, hotels, restaurants and shopping centers.   The in-car GPS system provides both three-dimensional navigation map and voice-prompted directions.  Additional reference points include banks, ATMs, hospitals and museums, among others. 

Other important features of Garmin Navigation GPS Costa Rica maps include the following:

• Country-wide coverage
• Full auto-routing with turn restrictions and one way streets restrictions throughout Costa Rica
• Geographical features such as rivers, lakes and political boundaries

The system is currently available at Smart Ways’ headquarters, located near the Juan Santamaría International Airport, at the Hampton car rental complex (across from the Hampton Inn & Suites).  They are also available at Economy and Solid car rentals, which are located in the same area.
