Today you will have your first great encounter with Costa Rican nature.

After breakfast we will leave San José heading for the mountains of Alajuela.

As we climb, the landscape begins to transform. The temperature drops and coffee plantations, ferns, flowers and strawberries appear, creating a mountain landscape completely different from that of the capital.

The secret behind Costa Rican coffee

Our first stop will be at Doka Coffee Estate, an authentic coffee plantation.

Here we will learn about the traditional process used to grow, harvest and process one of the products that has most shaped the history and identity of Costa Rica.

Among the coffee plants and the mountains we will learn how a small fruit ends up becoming an internationally recognized cup of coffee.

We will also enjoy a breakfast before continuing our tour.

The impressive Poás Volcano

From Doka we will continue toward Poás Volcano National Park.

The landscape changes again as we climb toward the highlands.

Poás Volcano is one of the great features of Costa Rican geography and its enormous crater offers an impressive image of the volcanic force that has helped shape the country.

We will follow the designated trail to the crater lookout and will have time to contemplate the landscape, always subject to weather conditions and the safety regulations in force.

The visit also includes the area of Botos Lagoon, surrounded by the characteristic high-altitude forest.

La Paz Waterfall Gardens

After the volcano we will continue to La Paz Waterfall Gardens.

Here we will leave the volcanic landscape behind to enter a tropical forest environment once again.

A trail will take us to a spectacular waterfall in the middle of the vegetation.

During the visit we will also be able to discover different areas dedicated to the fauna and flora of Costa Rica, including the hummingbird gallery, the serpentarium, the aviary and the frog exhibit.

Afterwards we will enjoy lunch before returning to San José.

San José → La Fortuna de Arenal

After breakfast we will leave San José and begin our journey to the Arenal region.

The landscape will gradually change as we move away from the Central Valley and approach the lowlands and tropical forests of the north.

Our destination will be La Fortuna, a small town known worldwide for its proximity to the Arenal Volcano and for the enormous variety of nature and adventure experiences it offers.

Arenal: nature and adventure

The Arenal Volcano is one of the most recognizable natural symbols of Costa Rica.

Its characteristic conical shape dominates the region's landscape and its surroundings offer a spectacular combination of forests, rivers, mountains and fertile lands.

This day is designed so that you can settle in and begin discovering the area at your own pace.

After breakfast we will continue our journey to Monteverde.

The road will take us from the volcanic lands of Arenal to the mountains of the Tilarán Mountain Range.

Little by little the landscape becomes cooler, more humid and mistier.

Monteverde owes much of its charm precisely to its landscape.

The combination of altitude, humidity and changing climate creates an extraordinary ecosystem: the cloud forest.

Here the mist blends with the vegetation and the trees appear covered in mosses, ferns, bromeliads and other plants that thrive in this unique environment.

Monteverde is one of the most renowned ecotourism destinations in Costa Rica and a particularly attractive place for nature lovers.

On arrival you will have the afternoon free to begin exploring its surroundings.

After breakfast the time will come to say goodbye to the mountains of Monteverde.

Our shared transport will take us back to San José.

On arriving in San José you will have the rest of the day free.

You can take the opportunity to explore some corners of the capital, do last-minute shopping, visit a museum or simply rest at the hotel.

It will be your last night in Costa Rica.

San José → Juan Santamaría International Airport

After breakfast the time will come to say goodbye.

Our transfer will take you from the hotel to Juan Santamaría International Airport to catch your return flight.
