Arrival in San José
Your adventure begins as you land at Juan Santamaría International Airport.
After completing the arrival procedures, our team will welcome you and accompany you to your hotel in San José by private transfer.
You will have time to settle in, rest and get ready for what lies ahead.
Tomorrow you will receive your vehicle and your road adventure will officially begin.
Overnight in San José.
After breakfast the real road trip begins.
Today you will receive your rental vehicle and have everything ready to drive to the Arenal Volcano region.
Your vehicle, your route, your adventure
You will have an intermediate 4WD automatic SUV, ideal for traveling through the different regions included in the program.
In addition, you will have unlimited mileage, so you can enjoy the trip without worrying about distance.
The drive to Arenal is part of the experience.
As you leave the Central Valley behind, the landscape gradually changes: urban areas give way to mountains, rural communities, plantations and tropical forests.
You can stop to take photographs, enjoy a local coffee or simply contemplate the scenery.
Arrival in Arenal
Your destination will be the La Fortuna region, at the foot of the majestic Arenal Volcano.
The volcano's characteristic silhouette dominates the landscape and turns every drive through the area into a visual experience.
Once settled into your hotel, you will have free time to rest or begin exploring the surroundings.
The region offers an enormous variety of adventure and nature activities that you can add to your trip.
Overnight in the Arenal area.
Discover the world around the volcano
Today you will have the whole day to enjoy Arenal your way.
After breakfast you can choose how to experience this region.
You can spend the day exploring the surroundings of the volcano, walking along nature trails, visiting a waterfall, enjoying the hot springs or simply relaxing and taking in the scenery.
The giant of Arenal
The Arenal Volcano is one of the great natural symbols of Costa Rica.
Its presence dominates the landscape and the region surrounding it combines tropical forests, rivers, mountains and extraordinary biodiversity.
Adventure or relaxation?
The choice is yours.
You can seek adrenaline with one of the activities available in the area or end the day in the hot springs, enjoying the natural warmth of the volcanic region.
Today you don't have to follow a schedule.
You decide what adventure you want to have.
Overnight in the Arenal area.
Optional activities available upon request.
A journey into the clouds
After breakfast you will get back on the road to head toward Monteverde.
This will be one of the most memorable legs of the trip.
You will leave behind the volcanic landscape of Arenal and begin to ascend toward the mountains of the Tilarán Mountain Range.
Little by little the climate will also change.
The air becomes cooler, clouds appear among the mountains and the vegetation takes on an increasingly lush appearance.
Welcome to the cloud forest
Monteverde is famous for its mist-covered forests and for the extraordinary variety of species that inhabit them.
Here the trees are covered in mosses, ferns, bromeliads and other plants that take advantage of the constant humidity.
After arriving at the hotel you will have time to rest or begin getting to know the surroundings.
Overnight in Monteverde.
Nature and adventure in the cloud forest
After breakfast you will have the day free to explore Monteverde.
The region is known both for its nature trails and for its adventure activities.
A forest full of life
You can walk along the area's trails looking for birds, mammals, amphibians and an extraordinary variety of plants.
Every corner of the forest offers something different.
The mist, the sounds of the birds and the moss-covered vegetation create an atmosphere completely different from that of the lowlands.
Adventure above the forest
If you are looking for a more thrilling experience, you can add adventure activities in the treetops, including canopy experiences and other options available in Monteverde.
From above you will be able to observe the forest from a completely different perspective.
A day to explore, breathe fresh air and discover the mountain your way.
Overnight in Monteverde.
Optional activities available upon request.
Today another great change of scenery begins.
You will leave the mountains of Monteverde and begin descending toward the Central Pacific.
The temperature rises, the vegetation changes and little by little the mountains give way to the tropical landscape of the coast.
Welcome to the Pacific
Your destination will be the Manuel Antonio area, one of the best-known places in Costa Rica for its combination of tropical forest and beaches.
After settling into your hotel you will have free time to begin enjoying the surroundings.
You can walk along the beach, relax by the pool or explore the surroundings.
And, if you want to make the most of your stay, you can book water activities or additional excursions.
Overnight in the Manuel Antonio area.
One last day of adventure
Today you will have the chance to discover one of the most emblematic natural destinations in Costa Rica.
Manuel Antonio National Park
You can visit Manuel Antonio National Park —the entrance fee is at additional cost— and walk its trails in search of the wildlife that inhabits this extraordinary ecosystem.
Depending on the day's conditions, you may find monkeys, sloths, birds, iguanas and many other species.
And one of the great attractions of the park is precisely the combination of nature and coast: tropical forest trails leading to beaches of great beauty.
The Pacific your way
If you prefer a more relaxed day, you can enjoy the area's beaches or choose a water activity.
Kayaking, sailing, fishing, surfing and other experiences can complement your stay depending on your interests.
Your last full day of the trip is entirely yours.
Overnight in the Manuel Antonio area.
After breakfast you will begin the return to San José.
It will be your last drive along the Costa Rican roads.
Along the way you will once again be able to enjoy the landscapes that made this trip special: mountains, tropical vegetation, small communities and the gradual change from the coast to the Central Valley.
Once in San José the rental vehicle will be returned.
Afterwards you will have the transfer to Juan Santamaría International Airport to catch your return flight.
And perhaps it will be precisely during this final drive that you realize just how much you have traveled.
Three regions. Three completely different landscapes. One single adventure.
Pura vida and until next time!
